If you’re looking for a classic pueblo blanco (white-washed village) with stunning scenery and a taste of old Spain, then Casares is a fantastic choice.It’s arguably the most picturesque village in the region, with a mass of white houses grouped around an ancient Muslim fort perched on the top of a hill. The old centre is full of winding cobbled streets, local shops, bars, cafes and pretty squares and has buckets of charm.

Outside of the old town, there are some lovely developments springing up, which offer residents all the mod cons, such as swimming pools, communal gardens and parking in this fantastic setting. Casares del Sol is a new development situated between three golf courses, within easy reach of Casares and the coastal towns of Manilva and Estepona which offers some fantastic long-term rental opportunities.

Despite its natural beauty, Casares is surprisingly unspoilt by tourism and is still very much a real Spanish village with a great sense of community. The area is popular for hikers and bird watchers who enjoy being out of the hustle and bustle of the coastal areas, yet within a short drive of its amenities.

Residents of Casares can enjoy the traditional village community and walk to the local shops and restaurants within the town. However, although it doesn’t feel like it, you are actually very close to the large seaside town of Estepona, with its Spanish and International Schools, modern health facilities and huge supermarkets. Estepona has fantastic wide sandy beaches and a friendly Spanish feel, but caters to the needs to the International residents perfectly. You are also within easy reach of the marina and polo fields of Sotogrande and Gibraltar International Airport.
