Long Term Rentals in Fuengirola

Coming along the main coast road from Marbella you can’t miss Fuengirola. On your right is the Moorish Castle Sohail, perched high on a hill above the town and on the left is the huge Parque Miramar shopping centre.

Fuengirola is the most international working town on the Costa del Sol with a combination of well over 30 nationalities living in the area. Although it has some ugly high-rise blocks, it’s still a popular choice for the ex-pats as it has maintained its Spanish character and has many pretty plazas and streets, as well as one of the most beautiful town squares on the Coast. The local Town Hall is very active in up-keeping the town and has many more improvement projects planned.

Fuengirola also has great beaches, good Spanish and International schools, excellent shopping, bars and restaurants and all the amenities you could possibly need. Plus, there are lots of Spanish and English businesses based in Fuengirola and the surrounding areas, so it’s a good place to be based for work and lifestyle.

It’s a large, busy town with a well-developed infrastructure and easy links to Malaga and Marbella. Unlike many other areas on the Costa del Sol, the public transport in and around Fuengirola is excellent, so you can easily cope without a car. From Fuengirola you can hop on the train to Malaga and connect up with the AVE high-speed train to Madrid in just over two hours. There are also lots of buses running from Fuengirola to the rest of the Coast as well as inland.

Residents of Fuengirola are spoilt for choice, with a huge range of services and amenities both in the town itself and in the nearby city of Malaga. There are two public health centres in Fuengirola, plenty of smaller surgeries and a fully-equipped hospital in Malaga. There’s also a brand new private hospital, the Xanit, just a short drive away in Benalmadena. There are plenty of local Spanish and International schools for children of all ages and Fuengirola is a popular family choice.

Fuengirola is a hub for entertainment and activities in the area, with a large cinema showing English films in the Miramar shopping centre, plus a huge number of shops and an enormous hypermarket which stocks all your International favourites. Close by is the exclusive El Corte Ingles department store, which is a firm favourite for clothes, makeup and perfume, and has free parking. For your weekly shop, you can visit the various local open markets for great quality fruit, vegetables, fish and meat at low prices.

There is a marina for yachts and speedboats and a fishing harbour very close to the centre, both of which are a base for many watersports and boat trip companies. There’s also a beautiful conservation zoo, a fun-filled waterpark, and many other family-friendly activities on offer.

Fuengirola hosts many events throughout the year, including the annual Feria Internacional de Los Pueblos, which celebrates Fuengirola’s many nationalities with food, music and dancing from around the world, as well as the local annual Feria (Fair) which is celebrated in October. The town also has a very vibrant nightlife with many restaurants, clubs and bars if you want to party all night long.
